My ultimate PADI instructor scuba gear setup
I’ve been diving since I was 14. Over the years, I’ve developed a real love for exploring the ocean floor, spotting rare creatures, and filming underwater life. If I could choose any PADI instructor scuba gear without thinking about budget, this would be my ultimate kit. It’s all about comfort, reliability, and being ready when magic happens beneath the surface.

Why I chose my PADI instructor scuba gear
After decades of diving and exploring marine life, I’ve finally found the perfect setup – no budget limits, only performance and joy.
If I had to choose my perfect PADI instructor scuba gear – money aside – this would be it.
For me it’s all about comfort and gear that lets me enjoy the moment. I’ve always been the type of diver who enjoys scanning the seabed, checking crevices, and observing marine life.
Why this is my ultimate PADI instructor scuba gear kit
Let’s start with the regulator. I’d go with the Aqualung LEG3ND Yoke Regulator + Octopus. It’s incredibly reliable, performs great in all conditions – even cold water – and I never have to worry about air delivery no matter how deep I go.
For the BCD, the Scubapro Level BCD is a great mix of durability and comfort. It feels streamlined in the water but still has all the practical features I need – from pockets to D-rings.

What about fins and mask?
I want fins that are powerful but still easy to travel with, so I’d choose the Greatever adjustable flippers. They’re compact, efficient, and feel great whether I’m snorkeling or doing deeper dives.
For the mask, the AQUATICS frameless ultra-clear mask is a personal favorite. Clear vision is everything, and I love that it fits perfectly without leaking – a must in any PADI instructor scuba gear setup.
You mentioned you’re into filming underwater. What do you use?
Yes! That’s huge for me. You never know when you’ll see something unforgettable. I use the DJI Osmo Action 4K – it’s waterproof, has incredible stabilization, and the dual screens make framing shots super easy even when you’re mid-dive. It’s the camera I trust most in my PADI instructor scuba gear setup.

What about safety gear?
I always dive with a DSMB like this one from Seafard, and I keep a Boomerang retractable tether clipped to my gear for my slate, torch or camera. It’s all about convenience and making sure nothing floats away. I also use DAN – Divers Alert Network – for my professional dive insurance. It’s good to have in case something happens.
What’s in your dive bag when you pack for a trip?
My CONTAIL wheeled dive bag is a lifesaver – fits everything and handles rough handling during travel. I also bring a scuba multitool because something always needs a little tweak or tightening. These tools are always part of my PADI instructor scuba gear checklist.
Finally -do you have any favorite marine animal?
It’s always exciting to see a shark or other big stuff, but my top marine animal is the cuttlefish – with its pulsating color changes, special eyes, and sometimes bioluminescence around its skirt.
